How can I assign homework?
In this article, we'll cover two ways to assign homework to your students.
The features mentioned in this article are available to Teachers on paid and free subscriptions.
To assign homework, your student must be enrolled in a lesson at the time of assignment or at some time before.
You can preview the homework before assigning it during the lesson by clicking the 'Homework' button at the top of the lesson slides or before launching a lesson by clicking the white list icon to preview the homework in the lesson group card near the launch lesson button.
There are two ways to assign Homework:
Assign Homework at the end of a lesson
- At the end of teaching a lesson with students enrolled, on the bottom right, click the purple 'Close Classroom' button. You'll be prompted to assign the homework.
- The homework is assigned by default. If you want to change the assignments, use the checkbox next to any student's name.
- You can select an optional due date. When the due date is past, your student will lose access to the homework.
- On the bottom right, click the blue 'Assign Homework' button.
Assign Homework from a student's profile after teaching a lesson
- Open the Student Management Panel
- Click on your student's name
- Here you can see:
- Date of the lesson
- Lesson name
- Proficiency level
- Homework status
- Reviewed status
- Homework score
- Actions menu
- Locate the lesson for which you want to assign the homework
- In the actions column on the far right, click the blue plus (+) icon
- Here you can:
- Preview the homework
- Select an optional due date. When the due date is past, your student will lose access to the homework.
- Select an optional class.
- CC anyone about the homework being issued (e.g. parents)
- Click 'Assign Homework'
Your student will find their homework assignment under Homework, in their To Do tab.
Many teachers use a Flipped Classroom approach so that students can preview the material before class.
To do this, enroll a student in a lesson and close the classroom. This gives them access to the slides and allows them to preview the material before class. If you choose to assign homework when closing the classroom, your students can complete this assignment before class too.
If you closed the classroom before assigning homework, you can simply follow the same steps again to assign it.
