Off2Class 2026–2027 Roadmap
Stay informed about Off2Class's exciting roadmap for 2026-2027.
The features and improvements described below are subject to change and may not be released at the time of reading. ETAs are subject to change.
Our Focus Areas
- Student Progress Tracking: This year's biggest investment. We're building a skills-based progress tracking system that goes beyond level-to-level measurement. Every piece of Off2Class content (lesson slides, homework assignments, unit checks and placement tests) will map to specific language skills, giving teachers a clear picture of what each student has mastered and what they need to work on next.
- Instructional Content & Teacher Support: We're expanding the tools that make Off2Class lessons easier to teach and more effective for students. Teacher Guides and Student Handouts — currently available for select lesson groups — will roll out to more of the Lesson Library, and our ongoing Lesson Refresh will continue modernizing standalone lessons with updated content and design.
- Assessments & Platform Experience: We're completing the Adaptive Placement Test with the addition of speaking assessment and auto-scoring, and redesigning the platform experience to make student data more accessible and actionable.

Student Progress Tracking
Status: 📅 Planned (ETA: Q4 2026)
Overview
A skills-based progress tracking system that maps every assessment and practice activity in Off2Class to specific language skills. Teachers will be able to see exactly which skills a student has mastered, which ones need attention and what to teach next to address those gaps.
Currently, teachers can track student progress from level to level by reassigning the Placement Test or Adaptive Placement Test. Student Progress Tracking takes this further by measuring growth within each level, giving teachers a much more detailed and actionable picture of student development.
This system will roll out in stages across different parts of the platform.
Why
Tracking that a student moved from Level 3 to Level 4 is useful, but it doesn't tell a teacher what specific skills that student still needs to work on. EL Coordinators and teachers need granular skill-level data to make informed instructional decisions, group students effectively and demonstrate progress to stakeholders.
Student Progress Tracking builds on our existing Can-do Descriptors framework by connecting skill-level data directly to Off2Class lessons and assessments. Instead of teachers manually cross-referencing skills and content, the platform will surface specific recommendations: "This student needs work on these skills — here are the lessons and activities to address them."
Customizable Assessments
Status: 📅 Planned (ETA: First half of 2027)
Overview
A new feature that lets teachers build fully customizable assessments for their students. Rather than being limited to a single purpose, Customizable Assessments can be used in a variety of ways — from ongoing progress monitoring to targeted diagnostics — helping teachers understand what specific skills a student has already mastered and what to address next.
Teachers can build a Customizable Assessment by selecting the exact skills and domains they want to assess, or start from a suggested template based on their students' level or learning goals.
Customizable Assessment results feed directly into Student Progress Tracking, adding flexible assessment data to the skills picture Off2Class is building for each student.
Why
The Placement Test is already a useful tool for evaluating overall level — teachers can assign it at the start and end of the year to track movement from level to level. Customizable Assessments work at a different resolution and for broader purposes. They can be used to monitor progress within a level, diagnose gaps in a student’s current ability, or assess targeted groups of skills.
That degree of flexibility matters for instructional planning and intervention. Teachers working with students at the same level often find significant variation in which skills those students have developed. Customizable Assessments give teachers a fast, structured way to answer exactly the questions they have about their students’ learning.
Classroom Activities
Status: 📅 Planned (ETA: TBD)
Overview
A new way for every student in a live classroom to participate in lesson activities at the same time.
Why
Teachers leading live lessons with multiple students need ways to keep every learner actively engaged with the content. Classroom Activities will give teachers that capability, starting with gap fills and expanding based on teacher feedback.
Adaptive Placement Test (Speaking)
Status: ▶️ In Progress (ETA: August 2026)
Overview
A speaking assessment section for the Adaptive Placement Test. Once launched, teachers will be able to assign any combination of grammar, reading, listening, writing and speaking sections to evaluate their students — making the Adaptive Placement Test a complete assessment across all four language domains plus grammar.
Why
The Adaptive Placement Test was designed to give teachers flexible, targeted assessment options. Adding the speaking section completes that vision. Teachers will be able to assess all four domains independently or together, adapting the test to their specific needs without requiring students to complete sections that aren't relevant.
Speaking Auto-Scoring
Status: ▶️ In Progress (ETA: August 2026)
Overview
Automatic scoring and feedback for spoken responses in homework assignments, following the same approach as our Writing Auto-Scoring feature. Teachers will retain the ability to review and adjust scores and feedback at any time.
Why
Writing Auto-Scoring has already saved teachers significant time on grading. Speaking Auto-Scoring extends that same benefit to spoken assignments — providing fast, consistent scoring so teachers can spend more time teaching and less time grading.
UX Redesign
Status: 📅 Planned
Overview
A redesign of the Off2Class platform experience, modernizing the interface and making it easier for teachers to access student data, track progress and translate insights into instructional decisions. This initiative was deprioritized in 2025–2026 to focus on assessments and auto-scoring, and is now a key priority for 2026–2027.
Why
Teachers need quick, clear access to student performance data to make good instructional decisions. The redesigned platform will consolidate key information in a more intuitive format, reducing the time teachers spend navigating between screens and making it simpler to identify student needs, plan instruction and group students effectively.
Teacher Guides Expansion
Status: 🔁 Ongoing (ETA: Starting in the second half of 2026)
Overview
Teacher Guides are detailed lesson companions that help teachers adapt Off2Class lessons with scaffolding, differentiation and engagement strategies. They're currently available for five lesson groups (168 guides total):
- Step-by-Step Curriculum for Schools Beginner (36 guides)
- Step-by-Step Curriculum for Schools Upper Beginner (48 guides)
- Step-by-Step Curriculum Newcomers (36 guides)
- Reading for Newcomers (24 guides)
- Speaking for Newcomers (24 guides)
We'll be expanding Teacher Guides to additional lesson groups across the Lesson Library and improving the guides based on teacher feedback.
Why
Teacher Guides are one of our most popular features — teachers tell us they save prep time and make lessons more effective. Expanding them to more lesson groups means more teachers can benefit, regardless of which Off2Class lessons they're using.
Student Handouts Expansion
Status: 🔁 Ongoing (ETA: Starting in the second half of 2026)
Overview
Student Handouts are printable materials that reinforce lesson content and give students opportunities for independent practice. They're currently available for Reading for Newcomers (24 handouts).
We'll be expanding Student Handouts to additional lesson groups and improving them based on teacher feedback.
Why
Teachers consistently ask for printable materials that extend learning beyond the screen. Student Handouts provide structured practice that teachers can use during class, assign as homework or use for differentiation — all without having to create materials from scratch.
Standalone Lesson Refresh
Status: 🔁 Ongoing (continued from 2025–2026)
Overview
A comprehensive refresh of our standalone lessons, including a visual redesign, more relevant content and new skills-based tasks.
So far, we've refreshed 12 lesson series (242 lessons). Additional lesson series are planned and will be added to the Lesson Refresh Tracker as timelines are confirmed.
Why
Standalone lessons are among our most popular lessons for teachers worldwide. This refresh ensures they deliver maximum educational value with updated content, improved visual design and enhanced pedagogical features.
CTE (Career and Technical Education) Materials
Status: 📅 Planned (ETA: 2027)
Overview
A new series of lessons covering CTE (Career and Technical Education) content. These lessons introduce exactly the language and skills that students need to start careers in different fields, such as manufacturing, hospitality, construction, and more.
Why
CTE lessons help students connect English learning to real-world goals. By introducing job-specific language and scenarios, these materials support learners in building confidence while preparing for career pathways. They also ensure students are learning the language needed for specific industries, helping reduce barriers and expand access to meaningful employment opportunities.
