How can I assign a placement test to a class?

In this article, we'll cover how to assign a placement test to a class.

The Off2Class placement test is great to send to new students so that you can get an excellent idea of both their language strengths and their weaknesses so that you can design a customized course for them. Our placement test will match every error that your student makes to one of the lessons in our lesson library for a personalized course.

To assign the placement test to a class, hover over the teacher menu in the top left of the lesson library page, click 'placement test' and then click the green 'assign test' button

You can view sample questions by clicking on the 'view sample questions' button.

Click 'Classes', select the class you want to send the test to from the drop-down menu then click 'Send'

You can send the test to students more than once, because the test is dynamic, pulling off a database of over 800 questions, so they are unlikely to get the same test twice. However, we don't recommend assigning the test too often, as this can demotivate the student. Regular assessments are a better gauge of student progress.

Choose which elements of the placement test to send

    1. The Grammar section is compulsory every time the test is assigned, as these results determine the level for the following sections.
    2. Choose which sections you'd like to add to the test - Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking, keeping in mind these cannot be added individually at a later stage, separate from the grammar portion.
    3. Note the estimated time to complete the test adjusts according to the sections added
      1. Grammar - about 45 minutes, but can be saved and continued later
      2. Listening - 20-minute time limit
      3. Reading - 20-minute time limit
      4. Writing - 15-minute time limit
      5. Speaking - 5-minute time limit
    4. If the student is part of a class, the class name will appear here.
    5. Click Send test to student when ready.

Note: Because the placement test is very detailed, if your student is a beginner, rather start them on the A0 or beginner material directly without assigning them the placement test.
