How can I manage classroom & homework settings?

This article explains how to manage your account settings, including classroom, homework, and communication preferences.

The features mentioned in this article are available to teachers on paid and free subscriptions. Some settings are limited on free subscriptions.

Teacher account settings control your classroom defaults like video links, chat visibility, homework due dates, and language preferences.

To access any/all of these settings:

  1. Hover over your name in the top right.
  2. Click Settings.


Videoconference Link

Default: Empty
Change it: In Settings, enter your Zoom/Teams/Google Meet link under Videoconference Link, then click Save Settings.
Once saved: The Start Video button appears in the classroom chat for teachers and students.



Disable Classroom Chat

Default: No
Change it: In Settings, set Disable Classroom Chat to Yes, then click Save Settings.
If enabled: Students no longer see the chat box in the classroom.



Default Homework Due Date

Default: No due date
Change it: In Settings, choose a value under Default Homework Due Date, then click Save Settings.
Options: 1–7 days, 14 days
Note: After the due date passes, students lose access to the assignment.



Default Google Translate Language

Default: English
Change it: In Settings, select a language under Default Google Translate Language, then click Save Settings.
Options: English, Arabic, Chinese (Simplified/Traditional), French, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish, Vietnamese, and more.



Default Image Search Engine

Default: Google Images
Change it: In Settings, select a provider under Default Image Search Engine, then click Save Settings.
Options: Google Images, Bing Images, Yandex Images.



Default Text To Audio Language

Default: US English Female
Change it: In Settings, select a voice under Default Text to Audio Language, then click Save Settings.
Options: US English Female, UK English Male, UK English Female, Australian Female.



Student Ratings Collection

Default: Enabled
Change it: In Settings, set Student Ratings Collection to Enabled or Disabled, then click Save Settings.
Note (multi-teacher plans): This setting is managed by the Enterprise Manager and isn’t visible in individual teacher accounts.
Privacy: Ratings are anonymous and aggregated to comply with COPPA and GDPR. Teachers can’t view individual student ratings.



Framework

Default: CEFR
Change it: In Settings, select a framework under Framework, then click Save Settings.
Options: CEFR, WIDA, TELPAS, CA ELD, ELPA21, NY, AZ ELPS



AI Autoscoring Feedback Note

Default: Automatically provide AI feedback
Change it: In Settings, select Automatically provide AI feedback, then select Disable.
When changed: Automatically generated AI feedback notes will be disabled.


The features mentioned below are available to all managers on multi-teacher paid subscriptions.

Enterprise Settings let Managers control what teachers and students can see and do, including student emails, ratings, placement test email options, framedworks, language, and participation scoring.

To access any/all of these settings:

  1. Open the Enterprise Management Panel. 
  2. Click Settings.


Student Email Visibility

Default: No
Change it: In Settings, toggle Hide student emails from teachers.
If set to No: Teachers will be able to view or update student email addresses.



Teacher Ability to remove Students

Default: No
Change it:
In Settings, toggle Allow teachers to remove students.
If set to No:
Teachers will not have access to remove students who are assigned to them. 



Placement Test Email Settings

Default: Yes
Change it: In Settings, toggle Send email when assigning a placement test to a student.
If set to Yes: Students will receive an email from Off2Class when a placement test is assigned to them. 



Teacher and Lesson Ratings

Default: Yes
Change it: in Settings, toggle Allow students to submit teacher and lesson rating at end of a lesson.
If set to Yes: Students can submit teacher and lesson ratings at the end of a lesson.



Student Ratings Visibility

Default: Yes
Change it: In Settings, toggle Allow teachers to view ratings provided by students.
If set to Yes: Teachers can view ratings provided by students. 



Participation Scoring

Default: Yes
Change it: In Settings, toggle Enable participation scoring.
If set to Yes: Teachers will be able to assign a participation score to students in a class.



Default Framework

Default: CEFR
Change it: In Settings, select your desired framework -WIDA, TELPAS, CA ELD, ELPA21, NY and AZ ELPS
Note: Changing the framework might reorder the lesson categories in the Lesson Library.



Teacher Control of Default Standard

Default: Yes
Change it: In Settings, toggle Teachers can manage framework.
If set to Yes: Teachers can select and update framework for themselves. 



Default Student Interface Language

Default: English
Change it: In Settings, select the desired student language - Arabic, Bulgarian, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Czech, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Lao, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Turkish and Vietnamese.
Note: This setting translates the text on the student’s home page to aid in navigation. All lesson content remains in English.
