What are Prepositions lessons?
The Prepositions series is a comprehensive set of lessons designed to help learners master the use
of prepositions of time, place, and movement across a wide variety of real-life contexts. These
lessons guide students in understanding how prepositions shape meaning in everyday
communication, while also giving them opportunities to practice using the correct forms naturally
and confidently. The series follows a carefully scaffolded approach, starting with foundational
prepositions and gradually introducing more complex structures. Teachers can flexibly use the
lessons to introduce new concepts, review prior knowledge, or target specific learner difficulties.
The series covers:
- Prepositions of time
- At, In, On – Using common time markers: “We’ll meet at 5 p.m.,” “I was born in
March,” “She travels on Mondays.” - Before, After – Sequencing actions and events: “Finish your homework before
dinner,” “I called you after class.” - While, During, For – Describing simultaneous and ongoing actions: “I listened to
music while cooking,” “He slept during the movie,” “We stayed there for three
hours.” - From, To, Until, Beyond – Specifying ranges and limits: “The shop is open from 9 to
5,” “You can’t stay beyond this point.” - At Around, At About, Approximately – Expressing approximate times: “The bus
arrives at around noon,” “I’ll call you at about seven.”

ran down the other side.”

Target students
As general English lessons focused on essential grammar points, Prepositions is suitable for a
range of learners at the upper beginner (CEFR A2, WIDA Emerging) and pre-intermediate (CEFR
B1, WIDA Developing) levels. This makes the series ideal for students who are, beginning to work
with basic prepositional phrases, consolidating understanding of commonly confused
prepositions, or expanding their ability to use prepositions accurately in extended speech and
writing.

From August 27, 2025, the updated lessons replace the original Prepositions lessons in the
drop-down menu in the Lesson Library. However, the original lessons can still be accessed from the search bar and the Teacher Panel for a 5-week transition period. From October 1, 2025, the original lessons are no longer accessible.
