What are Adjectives & Adverbs lessons?

Adjectives & Adverbs is a flexible series of standalone lessons that help learners build confidence
in using descriptive language across a wide range of real-life contexts. These lessons support
students in accurately describing people, places, emotions, and experiences, while also introducing
important grammar distinctions such as adjective order, comparative and superlative forms, and
the difference between adjectives and adverbs.
Lessons range from simple opposites and common –ed/–ing endings to more complex adverb
types and placement. The series provides scaffolded practice for describing objects, expressing
emotions, giving advice, comparing preferences, and more. Each lesson includes:

  1. High-interest themes like classroom objects, food, feelings, and everyday life
  2. Clear grammar explanations and examples for each target form
  3. Tasks that blend grammar development with communicative skills


Whether used individually or in sequence, these lessons offer meaningful grammar practice with
strong real-world relevance.

 

Target students

As general English lessons targeting a core language area, Adjectives & Adverbs is suitable for a
wide range of learners, especially those between upper beginner (CEFR A2, WIDA Emerging) and
pre-intermediate (CEFR B1, WIDA Developing) who need structured practice with descriptive
language. These lessons are ideal for introducing new language, filling in learning gaps, or
reinforcing prior knowledge. With a variety of everyday topics and productive writing and
speaking tasks, teachers can easily adapt these lessons to fit the needs of diverse students across

Both the updated lessons and the original lessons are available for a 4-week transition period. However, from 14 July 2025, the original lessons are no longer accessible.
