What is a Retired lesson?
In this article, we'll cover what a retired lesson is and what to do when you come across one.
Applicable to all teachers on paid and free subscriptions.
A Retired lesson simply means it's no longer part of the active curriculum. We’ve updated it with a newer version.
When a lesson is updated
For a short time, both versions (the retired and the updated one) will appear in the Lesson Library to make your transition smoother.
After a couple of weeks:
-
The retired lesson is removed from the Lesson Library
-
But it remains in Lesson History for both teacher and student.
What should you do if you see a retired lesson?
-
Check for a newer version in the same category.
-
Avoid assigning the retired version unless you’ve already started using it with the student.
Placement test tip
If a retired lesson appears in a student’s placement test results:
-
Remove it from the Lesson Plan
-
Assign the newer version instead (it usually has the same lesson number, but updated content)
Why do we retire lessons?
We’re always improving the Lesson Library. Retired tags simply help us keep content fresh, relevant, and aligned with our current standards.
